A long post

Heeeeeere's Justin!

{crashes through door with axe}

This entry brought to you by my personal computer at Alcoa Louisville Foil, the letter B, and the number 8.

It's been a while since I've updated my web log (or "blog" as some call it), and I'd actually like to see people tag the board or comment on this post just to see who actually still checks it. At least I'm not Neil . I should be doing work right now, but neither one of my supervisors are here; what's a co-op to do? Eh, I'll get to that later. The past couple of weeks have been interesting to say the least. In fact, this entire semester has been really messed up; I won't gussy it up for you, this semester has been screwed up to no avail. Seeing the end of a nearly three year relationship certainly doesn't start the semester off well, especially since co-op was another big change that was underway.

Things were starting to get back on track the week leading up to Halloween weekend. I had set up plans to go out with a girl from the dance team (yeah, that's right) and I was going to a Halloween party (it was a big deal to me) to see several friends that I don't see very often. The party was freakin' awesome, and I got several compliments on my costume (or lack thereof, as I was a hula dancing Chippendale). I even exchanged numbers with a girl, Allison the French maid, and went along my merry way. Sunday was even a good day and all was right with the world, or so I thought.

I received a phone call from Lindsy, my ex-girlfriend, and we exchanged some words and I figured that we wouldn't be talking for a while. Little did I guess that we'd talk the next night with pretty much the same result of me expecting us not to be talking for a while. I was able to handle all of that as I was still feeling good from the weekend and having made plans that week with a couple of girls that were interested in me (see: French maid and dancer). Tuesday came and work sucked as I was put on a craptastic project that is nothing more than drawing up the piping layouts for the entire plant in AutoCAD. Again, I won't gussy this up for my readers (all three of you): it sucks to no avail. After leaving work and running some errands, there was a problem with my truck, and I feared for the worst as my water pump had been replaced the week prior. It wound up being that my front passenger side brake caliper had frozen up and not that the bearing had locked up and caught on fire, which I feared. I thought that nothing else could go wrong; that evening my computer messed up (I had recently made a mistake when installing a second hard drive), the toilet broke, and there was more drama (yeah, I said "drama") with Lindsy. I fixed the first two, but the latter had me all messed up. "How messed up?" you might ask. Well, you know things are messed up when I cancel plans with a girl from the dance team (!).

Wednesday went off without a hitch, I think. I got the good news about my truck (caliper problem vs bearing) and spent more time on the crap project, so I figured that was all that could be expected. Oh yeah, my ankle still hurt from rolling it the week before during Ultimate. I knew that I forgot something else that made Tuesday oh-so-wonderful. Things turned around on Thursday a bit. Allison came over to watch a movie and we ordered pizza. Just so no one thinks anything happened, we watched the movie from opposite ends of the couch (and it's a mighty big couch). It was fun, though. Friday I went to work and then wound up canceling plans with Lane, the dance team girl, as I wasn't able to get in touch with her earlier. That went about as well as it could have and as it turned out, I'm "the most well-spoken person" that she has met in college. By the end of that week (see: soap opera), I really needed a compliment like that. I wound up shooting some pool downtown with some friends to help clear my head. My parents came in over the weekend, so I spent time with them, and then they watched me at the end of the season Ultimate tournament for fall league I played more intense than I had ever played before, and that says something, and it took its toll on my body. I walked like an old man on Monday and Tuesday.

Monday was interesting because Lindsy and I decided to try to work things out and give it another chance. We'll see where this takes us. Tuesday night I saw one of the greatest concerts I'll probably ever see: Kenny Wayne Shepherd one of the greatest guitarists in the world. A guy by the name of Dan Dyer opened for him and he rocked as well. It was exciting for a couple of reasons: 1) It was the first time I had "discovered" on artist by seeing him open at a concert, and 2) I was ten feet away from a blues rock icon. I got some amazing pictures from the show and an autographed CD from Dan Dyer.

Wednesday was the mechanical engineering department's annual state of the department address -which I took off a half day to attend as I am ASME co-head chair - and the UofL-TCU football game. We crushed them, Brahm did awesome, and I enjoyed the game with a few friends. My lack of sleep after two late nights had caught up with me and I definitely dragged ass at work yesterday. It didn't really matter because neither one of my supervisors are at work, which is part of the reason why I'm prepping my post during the work day. One of them is on vacation and the other is out due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. To say the least, I haven't worked very hard this week, especially on my crappy yet necessary project. Today has been decent, and I'll probably go shoot pool tonight. That might change, though. I imagine that has caught up my readers on recent events, so don't say I never gave ya nothin'.
